Sasha’s Favourite Songs of 2013

Here are my top 15 songs of 2013! I don’t get a chance to listen to everything that comes out each year, so if you have any musical gems that I’ve left out to share, please leave them in the comment section below (our e-mail inbox overwhelms me sometimes). I’d love to take a listen.  I’m also looking forward to seeing Katie’s picks (since I won’t let myself forget that she posted about Tame Impala way before I took a I listen) for some more stuff to fill my music collection with.  Enjoy!

15. Wet – You’re the Best

14. FYFESolace

13. Washed OutIt All Feels Right

12. Beck – I Won’t Be Long

11. Born Ruffians – Needle

10. Arctic Monkeys – Do I Wanna Know?

9. Generationals –  Put a Light On

8. Cults – Always Forever

7. Kanye WestBlack Skinhead

6. Franz Ferdinand – Stand on the Horizon

TOP 5

5. BeyonceFlawless
“I WOKE UP LIKE DISS!”– Kudos to the woman who released a full visual album out of nowhere before the end of the year, breaking records and hitting number one, all with no promotion.

4. DrakeToo Much feat. Sampha
Sampha’s voice on this song…

3. Lorde – White Teeth Teens
I had a hard time picking just one song off this album because I’ve been so obsessed with Lorde’s music this year, and I can’t even begin to tell you how jealous I am of how talented she is at 16.  PROUD OF YOU GURL, you made my top 3! (equivalent to a Grammy?)

2. Tiger Waves – Weekends
This is one of the sweetest songs, it’s like a love letter I wish someone wrote for me. Even though the song technically came out last year, it was re-released on a recent EP so I’m allowing it into my 2013 list because I love it just as much as the first time I heard it.

1. Arcade FireAfterlife
I just want to dance when I hear this song, dance and shout-sing, and that’s why it’s my favourite.

2013 was great, but…

it’s time for 2014, hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year!!

  2. Hi Sasha, excellent music choices. I’ve just discovered ‘Arthur Beatrice’ a London based band i think you might be interested in adding to your current playlist.
