Everyone has those albums: the albums that, when you listen to them, you’re instantly transported back to the place in time where you first heard them. The albums that carried you through a significant period in your life.
When I was working at Sobey’s (glamourous, I know) in the bakery during summer 2007, I came across Challengers by the New Pornographers. I listened to that album on repeat, sitting on a milk crate in the enormous cake freezer, eating chocolate-covered strawberries and slices of rich cake.
The very instant I hear that first chord in My Rights Versus Yours, I instantly feel happy again, no matter where I am.
That’s the kind of album worth listening to.
