Junip’s Rope and Summit EP

I’m sitting in the backyard in the cushioned swing with my laptop with the intention of finding new music and I’ve come across a free EP that so far sounds quite promising.

The band Junip, headed by indie-folk’s Jose Gonzalez, is a nice example of when an artist decides to explore new musical sounds outside of their typical comfort zone. (Cough: take a hint, New Pornographers)

The first track, Rope and Summit, is a great, pulsing rock song that layers upon itself until it feels like every beat is a fleeting streetlight on the highway at night.
